1. What is PeakPower™?

PeakPower™ is XQ Focus Consulting’s flagship program. It’s a comprehensive program designed to enhance executive functions, productivity, and peak performance of middle and high school students by providing holistic coaching sessions that are embedded in growth mindset principles, neuroscience-backed strategies, and creative teaching models.

2. How are students placed in PeakPower™?

In a free 30-minute Parent Intake Session, parent(s) will provide a detailed history of their student, including previous neuropsychological evaluations (if applicable), current and/or past teachers’ reports, school work samples, and anecdotal accounts of their student’s challenges at home and school. We also ask parent(s) to complete a survey which, combined with the data from the intake session, will be used to help design a unique individualized PeakPower™ plan for the student.

3. What does the PeakPower™ curriculum include?

PeakPower™ consists of foundational skills that we have found to be essential in mastering executive functions. It also includes several targeted executive functional skills that help clients reach optimal productivity and peak performance.

4. What are a few examples of foundational vs. targeted executive functions covered in PeakPower™?

We classify metacognition, response inhibition, goal setting, and growth mindset skills as examples of foundational executive functions and categorize planning, organization, and time management skills as examples of targeted executive functions.

5. What sets PeakPower™ apart from other programs?

Our holistic approach embedded in the growth mindset principles, neuroscience-backed strategies, and the creative teaching models set us apart from most programs in the market.

6. How is each PeakPower™ session structured?

PeakPower™ one-hour sessions begin with carefully crafted activities that aim to capture engagement, improve growth mindset, and ignite creative thinking (each activity is developed using creative teaching practices rooted in research and neuroscience). We then transition to teaching one foundational or targeted executive functional skill. We finish the lesson by providing ample authentic opportunities to practice the skill taught in that session.

7. What is the duration of the PeakPower™ program?

PeakPower™ contains 30 one-hour live, remote coaching sessions. Depending on the student needs and availability, we recommend one, two, or three coaching sessions per week.

8. How many sessions does a student have to attend a week?

Depending on the student needs and availability, we recommend one, two, or three coaching sessions per week.

9. What if my student needs improvement in only one executive function area and doesn’t need all the skills offered in PeakPower™? Do I still have to sign up for the entire program?

The foundational and targeted executive functions skills covered in PeakPower™ are carefully crafted, and they are all connected to each other in complex ways. Although we strongly recommend that students attend the entire flagship program, we also offer personalized executive functions sessions based on your student’s unique and immediate needs. We will help you choose the best path during our free 30-minute Parents Intake Session.

10. How do you measure progress?

We measure progress through observation, students self-assessment surveys, as well as parents and teachers feedback.

11. How do parents get feedback on their students' progress during the program?

Two free 30-minute “check-in” sessions will be offered to provide feedback to the parents after session 10 and session 20.

12. What happens upon the completion of the PeakPower™ program?

A 30-Minute free parent session will be offered to discuss the student’s progress in all areas of executive functioning. We will then provide personalized recommendations for continued growth.

13. Who teaches the PeakPower™ program?

Our PeakPower™ coaches are all current or previous teachers with at least a masters degree in education or a related field with extensive experience engaging students 1:1 in a remote setting. They are also recruited and trained by Dr. Iman Parsa, the Founder and President of XQ Focus Consulting, adhering to our three core principles: growth mindset, neuroscience, and creative teaching.
